Posting #1 10/26- 11/1

Good Morning,

The message in both videos was using media presentations effectively and not using them to present your speech. The slides used during your speech should only compliment what you are saying and provide more credibility to your speech. Another important factor is how your slides are formatted. It is important the audience can read what is on your slide and important you only have key information. Too much information may confuse or distract the audience from your main point. In my opinion, less can be more at some times and it is a determination that the speaker has to consider carefully when using media presentation.

Yes this is the same message I got from the videos. This really is a case where less is more. Like you said, if the slide has too much information, not just the key information, it can be distracting to the audience. This is because people are trying to read all the information. When people are trying to read, they are paying less attention to the speaker. Another thing to keep in mind is that the background color of a slide should be neutral or a color that does not clash with the picture or words. This is why I always put black backgrounds on my slides. It is helpful to keep these guidelines in the back of your mind so that you do not make mistakes in our next speech.

Hello,
I would definitely have to agree with you. The videos helped a lot with showing how to correctly use a PowerPoint in your presentation. It is good to have catchy slides but not to catchy. They have to be interesting enough to catch your audience’s attention but not too much going on because you could lose your audiences attention because they would be to focused on the slides than the information. PowerPoint’s however, if used correctly can be very effective. They can change the impact of a speech greatly. I plan on using a PowerPoint in my next speech. So I definitely agree with everything you said. It seems that we both got the same ideas out of the videos which is good. After viewing these videos I now have an example on how to correctly do it. If you are using a PowerPoint in your next speech I hope these videos helped you as well. :)

I agree with what your saying. Someone shouldn't use a powerpoint if they are just going to read off of it or rely solely on it. It takes a lot of work to create a powerpoint that is formatted correctly and does not distract the audience from you, the speaker. You made some good points when you talked about what should be on the slides, and how too much information can distract and confuse the audience. I have definitely seen a few presentations where this was the case. Good job!
